The Audubon Aquarium of the America, New Orleans
The Audubon Aquarium of the America is a popular attraction of New Orleans, well recognized as one of the leading aquariums in the United States. Opened in 1990, the Aquarium of the Americas is run by the Audubon Institute that also runs the Audubon Zoo and Audubon Park. Situated at a pleasant location along the banks of the Mississippi River by the edge of the historic French Quarter off Canal Street, the Audubon Aquarium of the America also offers an IMAX Theater along with numerous exhibits.
Amazon Exhibit: This has been encased in a glass cylinder that is a prominent feature of the riverfront including marine animals like Macaws, Piranhas, an Anaconda, Freshwater Stingrays and many more. Mississippi River Gallery: This section includes Catfish, Paddlefish, Owls and a leucistic white Alligator. Gulf of Mexico Exhibit: This houses a 400,000 US gallons, 17-foot (5 m) tall tank that includes Sharks, Sea turtles, and Stingrays from the Gulf.
