The National Park was created way back in 1832 by Congress. Originally named as Hot Springs Reservation, the park is the smallest & oldest national park. The prime purpose of creating the national park was to protect the 47 natural flowing thermal springs of the region. Today, the park contains 8 historic bathhouses including the Fordyce Bathhouse where the park visitor center is contained.
The hot springs have for over 200 years being used for their therapeutic value for treating ailments like rheumatism. Rightly nicknamed as “The American Spa”, these therapeutic baths have been attracting numerous health seekers & curious tourists from across the world.
