With 323 acres of land area, the Maquoketa Caves State Park is indeed a nature lover’s paradise, located 7 miles northwest of Maquoketa. The park is famous for housing more caves than any other state park in Iowa.
The caves in the park are easily explored by hiking. The park contains wide trail system that links caves as well as other geological formations including Natural Bridge and 17-ton Balanced Rock etc. Hence, hiking is the most famous activity of the park. The other major activities that you can enjoy while here include camping and numerous interpretive programs.
Apart from hiking trails, the park offers many other facilities too like - 29 campsites, modern shower facility, open picnic shelters, picnic areas, playground and more. So, this is a great vacation spot for all those, who wish to spend some quality time in the lap of nature.
