The Lafayette Natural History Museum, moved to downtown Lafayette in 2002, and took the name Lafayette Science Museum. Its is a regional science center serving families, schools, and visitors with experiences and education in order to build the future through science, technology, engineering, and math.
The Lafayette Natural History Museum & Planetarium presents science, technology and history through exhibitions, planetarium shows, hands-on interactive experiences, films, workshops and other programs for children, families and adults.
The building is an example of urban re-design and re-use, and has received many design awards for its dramatic interior space. The Museum & Planetarium offers facilities for school tours, group tours, special Planetarium shows, seated or buffet meals, dances, concerts, film screenings, meetings, birthday parties, wedding receptions, and other events.
Planetarium shows run on a schedule, from Monday through Friday mornings. Seats are $2.00 per person. Infants through 3 years of age are not permitted in some Planetarium shows. Afternoons, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays: Groups may purchase Planetarium show tickets at $2.00 per person, subject to availability.
