The Kentucky Derby Museum is very interesting and fantastic place to mark your visit while you are at your trip to Louisville. Opened in the spring of 1984, the museum is dedicated to the tradition and excitement of the “greatest two minutes in sports”. The Kentucky Derby Museums mission is to provide visitors with a lasting impression of the tradition, history and pride associated with the race.
The informative stations of Kentucky Derby Museums are filled with facts about the race, its history, its people and, of course, its horses. It would certainly take hours to fully explore all the offerings of the two-story building. The popular exhibits in the museum include “The Greatest Race,” a 360-degree multi-media presentation of the story of the Derby, a “time machine” where guests can select and view footage of Derbies as far back as 1918, and interactive exhibits that provide a feel for some of what jockeys endure in their pounding ride around the track.

    The second exhibit showcases the Derby Winners, Jockey's, Trainers and Owners.
    The third exhibit area is devoted to The Jockey's and The Backside.
