The Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most popular attractions in Frankfort, Kentucky. The sanctuary was set in the year 1967 by Mrs. Emma Buckley as a memorial to her late husband. This sanctuary is spread over an area of 374 acres and is managed by the National Audubon Society in Kentucky.
The Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary offers the best locations for walking with a good mix of open fields and wooded areas, along with a small, beautiful pond. This picturesque setting lies just 10 miles south of Frankfort and 10 miles northwest of Versailles.

Open year-round, the site offers environmental programs, workshops, bird blind observations, and guided hikes. This nature center offers exhibits, educational programs and scheduled events. Thousands of children, teachers and families attend dozens of presentations annually, or leisurely stroll the grounds among these pleasant rural surroundings. A picnic area is available; pets are not permitted on the sanctuary grounds. Closed January and February, as well as Mondays, Tuesdays and holidays.
