Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium

The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is a museum located in Dubuque, Iowa, USA. The museum is a property of the Dubuque County Historical Society. It is also an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. The museum is home to an aquarium featuring wildlife representative of that found in the Mississippi River. There is also has an outdoor park, featuring larger artifacts such as boats. The museum has a cafe.

Painting the Mississippi

The museum will take over the Diamond Jo Casino existing Portside Building, as well as its riverboat, and renovate them into an IMAX-like theater and exhibit space. The expansion is part of the America's River Project: Phase II, which involves the relocation of the casino to the north of the museum (it is now located to the east). The museum's expansion is planned to be completed in 2010.”
